Part 3:

Recap

In Part 1 we developed the concept and bought the frame and weapons of a new mecha, the YF-38A Fox, which is intended eventually to be a transformable fighter/humanoid.

In Part 2, we bought additive systems and propulsion.

For the recap, cost and space are not included in servo or weapon write-ups

Shields:
No shield.

Pilot:
1 pilot in a canopy-type cockpit in the torso.

Sensors:
Superheavy sensors in the head.

Additive Systems:
Ejection seat for the cockpit

Propulsion:
12 MA in humanoid mode (16 afterburning)
24 MA in fighter mode (32 afterburning)

Base Cost: 108.4 cp
Total Weight: 34.35 tons
Base MV: -3; -5 in fighter mode.  This is a little low and we're going to fix it in a few moments.
Land MA: 5
Flight MA: 12/16 Humanoid mode; 12/32 Fighter mode.

Step 11: Choose Multiplier Systems
Powerplant: Jet engines are rather volatile things - prone to flying apart and throwing metal shards in many directions if damaged.  Because of this, we buy a Hot powerplant.  The YF-38 has an advanced engine, so we buy Overcharged, and it's a combustion engine.  Our net multiplier is x0.15-x0.33, or -x0.18.  Overcharged powerplants also add +1 MV and +1 land MA.
Controls: The YF-38 has an advanced experimental "glass cockpit" with pilot aids like "pupil point" targeting (Virtual controls).  Multiplier x0.05, total -x0.13.
Hydraulics: No type other than Standard makes sense.  -x0.13.
Environmental protection: The YF-38 is protected against electromagnetic pulse and also for desert and arctic environments.  Total multiplier x0.07
Maneuver verniers: The YF-38 has advanced fly-by-wire controls, +1 MV, x0.1, 5 spaces (1 Torso, 1 each arm, 2 Tail).  Total multiplier x0.17
Internal Automation: The YF-38's autopilot isn't really advanced enough to merit internal automation status.
Cloaking: The YF-38, like all 5th generation fighter jets, has a certain amount of stealth.  x0.2, 0 spaces.  x0.37
Shadow Imager: No shadows; modern tech doesn't support it.
ESPer Lens: Nope.
Thought Control: Despite what some pilots sometimes boast, modern fighter jets do NOT fly-by-thought.
Turbochargers: Dangerous and out of flavor.
Techno-Organics:
Nope.
Lightspeed: No.
Teleportation: No.
Transformation: The YF-38 transforms into fighter configuration.  x0.3.  x0.67
Transformable Options: The YF-38 has the Weapon Network option, so it can use all of its weapons in fighter configuration.  Cost x0.1.  x0.77.
Combiners: Um, no.

Step 12: Calculate multiplied cost:

108.4 cp * 1.77 = 191.9 cp

Step 14: Figure Stats:

We've been tracking stats through the build, but to sum up:

MV: -3+1+1 = -1 (humanoid) - 2 = -3 (jet)
Land MA: Weight is 34.35 tons, so Land MA = 5 + 1 = 6.  No land MA in fighter mode.
Flight MA: 12 humanoid/24 fighter (16/32 afterburning).
Maneuver Pool: No alteration

Step 15: Buy Command Armor:
The YF-38 has no command armor.  Provisions are made to mount FAST packs, but they haven't been designed by the company or ordered by the Pentagon yet.

Step 16: Scale as appropriate:
The YF-38 is a x1 scale mecha.

Step 17: Remotes:
The YF-38 has none.

Step 18: Finito:
Our mecha is designated the YF-38A Fox and shipped to fighter squadrons.

Final Spaces:
Head: 1
Torso: 2
Right Arm: 0
Left Arm: 0
Right Leg: 0
Left Leg: 0
Right Wing: 0
Left Wing: 0
Tail: 0
